THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO // BOOK COVER
In January 2024, publisher Atlas Contact will release a new Dutch-language edition of Marx and Engels' classic political pamphlet. A set of brand new essays contextualizes the manifesto and links it to the present day.
The book is a collaboration between Atlas Contact and Jacobin Nederland.
JACOBIN NEDERLAND // COVER, ILLUSTRATIONS & DESIGN
As the head designer for the Dutch edition of left-wing magazine Jacobin, I designed the front cover of the magazine's very first issue, to be released in October 2023. I also provided various illustrations throughout the magazine, and helped developing the magazine's overall layout and design.
SCHRIJVERS EN PIEMELS SCHEURKALENDER 2025 // COVER ARTWORK
I designed and created the cover of the Schrijvers & Piemels 2025 calendar, which will most Dutch bookstores in late 2024. Published by Atlas Contact, this calendar contains quotes on sexuality from Dutch-language literature.
GRAPHIC STORIES AND COMICS
Over the years, I have been working on various short graphic stories that blend my illustrations with both fictional and historical stories.
In 2021, I produced a visual essay on the carnival culture of the St. Martin island. The essay, which was published in Paratext Magazine, delved into the ways in which this carnival culture is deeply entangled with histories of capitalism, trade, slavery, rebellion and oppression.
ONGEHOORD JOURNAL // COVERS & DESIGN
In 2017, I was tasked with designing the overall look of ONGEHOORD, the journal of Utrecht University's Humanities Honours Program. Working on the journal allowed me to find a balance between bold, expressive cover designs and the practical requirements surrounding typesetting and designing a magazine layout.
IJSVOGEL RECORDS // DESIGN
IJSVOGEL Records is an Utrecht-based independent record label. It launched in 2020, and I was involved in designing its website (which was then programmed by Kevin van Mastrigt), the record label's corporate identity and its logos. As of 2022, I produce social content, posters and videos for the label.
ALBUM COVERS
I had the opportunity to work with various artists and bands over the past years. From synthpop to blues rock and from clean, neon-toned designs to explosive psychedelic artwork, these varied designs have allowed me to develop and showcase divergent facets of my style. You can see some examples below.
QUEER MATTERS // DESIGN
Utrecht-based cultural center and music venue TivoliVredenburg hosted several editions of Queer Matters in 2019. These lecture- and debate nights, which included academics and activists in their line-up, delved into various LGBTIQ+ issues. I had the chance to design their promotional banners.
